Submitted by: patti pennington ************************************************************ The following excerpts were taken from page 8 - The Artesia (NM) Daily Press - January 5, 2000 ROLLINS Graveside services were January 4 at City Cemetery in Altus, Okla., for former Artesia resident Mary Belle Rollins of Altus. Rollins, 99, died at her home on December 29. She was born on September 23, 1900 in Waxahachie, Texas, to William McFielden Varnell and Olive Stephen Cook Varnell. In 1910, together with her family, Rollins moved by wagon to the Oklahoma terrority, where they settled near Altus. She married Erbon Oliver Rollins on February 5, 1920. He died in 1954. She moved to Artesia where she lived until December 1999. She was a baptist and active in Eastern Star. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Wornie Varnell; sister-in-law Vollie Varnell; and son-in-law John C. Ward. She is survived by her daughter, Erbalene Rollins Ward of Artesia; brother Judson Varnell of Tulsa, Okla.; a grandson; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
