Dana was born on March 26, 1947, the second child of Modelle and Van Lovett in Altus, Oklahoma. After she graduated from high school she took a job with American Airlines to see the country and what else life had to offer. After a short time in Boston, Massachusetts, the winds of fate saw her transferred to Los Angeles, California. It was here that she would meet the love of her life, Ken Sabot. On June 28, 1970, Ken and Dana were married. While traveling for their honeymoon through the United States and Canada, the young couple found Boulder Creek, a beautiful town in Northern California to plant their roots. It was here that Ken and Dana were to raise three children- a daughter, Kira and twin sons, Matthew and Jacob. Dana worked a variety of jobs- including being a midwife- for the first years of the children's lives, but quickly learned that rearing three young children was a full-time job. Throughout the years in Boulder Creek, Dana made many long-lasting friendships and has been a positive, vibrant influence in the lives of all who she touched. Her ever-present smile and sense of humor endeared her to a great many people over the years. A dear friend recently said, "the way she lived her life was her art." Indeed, she has painted a masterpiece over the years; each life she touched enriched the color; every smile she encouraged added the texture. She is survived and dearly loved by her husband of 37 years, Ken; her daughter, Kira, her husband Brian and their son, Inshan; her sons, Matthew and Jacob and their respective wives Tracey and Alex; her sister Paula, her brothers Hal and Morris and their spouses; her mother-in-law Sylvia Sabot; her sister and brother-in-law Linda and Jerry Goldstein; and many loving nieces and nephews. Dana was truly a wonderful lady and a beautiful soul. Her presence in our lives will be sorely missed. A memorial service was held January 17th at Sparkman-Hillcrest Funeral Home in Dallas. Memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or the charity of one's choice. www.legacy.com/santacruzsentinel Published in the Santa Cruz Sentinel on 1/26/2007. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Jackson County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/jackson/jackson.html
