All rights reserved http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ***************************************************** Kathryn Tallant, 84, a resident of Okmulgee since 1947, died on Tuesday August 9, 2005 in Tulsa, Oklahoma following a short illness. Mrs. Tallant was born on April 10, 1921 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Richardson W. and Eva (Clinton) Brown. She was married to Harold I. Tallant on May 6, 1944 in Altus, Oklahoma. Mr. Tallant preceded her in death on July 24, 1993. Mrs. Tallant was an active member of the Church of Christ in Okmulgee. In past years she had worked as a sales clerk at Ramsey’s Department Store and Gibson’s Discount Store. She has served for many years as a volunteer at the Okmulgee Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Tallant enjoyed her membership in the B.A.L.L. Group, the Priority Club and the Okmulgee Garden Club. She was an active Bowler and had countless hours of relaxation bowling with leagues in Okmulgee for better than fifty years. Survivors include: One son, DeVon Tallant of Tulsa, OK. Two Daughters: Carolyn Jean Rose and Husband Carl of Tulsa, OK. Donneva Bennett and Husband Dan of Talalla, OK. Three sisters: Willie Edna Billington of Lockney, TX. Iris Ann Howard of Wichita, KN. Marjorie June Siefert of Shreveport, LA. One Brother: Thomas Brown of Olustee, OK. Nine Grandchildren: DeWayne Schapansky, Sheri Cooper, Crystal Rose, Connie Rose, Allan Rose, Trish Welch, Josh Bennett, Zac Bennett, and Courtney Bennett. Mrs. Tallant also enjoyed fifteen Great Grandchildren. Services will be held on Friday, August 12, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the Kelley Chapel. Jack Shock, minister of the Okmulgee Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will follow the service in the Okmulgee Cemetery under the direction of Shurden-Kelley Funeral Home. Pallbearers will include her grandsons, Josh and Zac Bennett along with DeWayne Schapansky; great grandson, Casey Schapansky and grandson in law, Dennis Cooper. Larry and Stuart Child, longtime family friends will assist the grandsons. Viewing will begin on Thursday morning at the Shurden-Kelley Funeral Home in Okmulgee. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the Okmulgee Memorial Hospital Auxiliary or the American Heart Association. ---
