Thomason ALTUS — Funeral for Willis R. Thomason, 84, Altus, will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church, Snyder. Mr. Thomason died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, west of Olustee. Burial will be at Fairlawn Cemetery, Snyder, under direction of Becker Funeral Home, Snyder. He was born Sept. 8, 1919, in McQueen to George Dewey and Vernie Wesley Thomason. He grew up in the McQueen area and graduated from high school at Louis Hill in 1940. He held the first driver’s license issued in Harmon County. He served in the Army during World War II. He married Juanice Willis Smith on Oct. 22, 1949, at Gould. He worked as a custom harvester and farmer and had been an Altus resident since 1956. He moved to Kansas for a few years and later returned to Altus in 1961. He was a Baptist. Survivors include his wife, of the home; four sons: Willis Thomas Jr., Oklahoma City; Bradley Johnson Smith, Dallas, Texas; Dana Thomason, Royse City, Texas; and Kenney Thomason, Altus; two brothers: Edwin Thomason, Eldorado; and Donald Thomason, Altus; a sister, Opal Martin, Tulsa; three grandsons and a granddaughter.
