All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Laurel Land Memorial Park Walker, Lona Marie Lona Marie Walker, 85, a long-distance operator with Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., died Monday, Dec. 5, 2005, in Fort Worth. Funeral: noon Thursday in Laurel Land Memorial Chapel of Fort Worth. Burial: Laurel Land Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Laurel Land Funeral Home. Memorials: Should you desire, donations may be made in her honor to the Benevolent Fund at Travis Avenue Baptist Church, or the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 101 Summit Ave., #204, Fort Worth, Texas 76102. Lona Walker was born June 26, 1920, in Gainesville. She attended and graduated from Eldorado High School in Eldorado, Okla. She then went to work as a long-distance operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., where she worked for 36 years and retired. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, Travis Avenue Baptist Church and the Sanctuary Sunday School Class and was a longtime member of Hemphill Heights Eastern Star. The family would like to thank Vitas Hospice for their love and care this past week. We would also like to thank Renaissance Park for all the love and care you have given our mom in the last years. You are all very special to us. Lona was preceded in death by her loving husband, Grady; her parents, Ike and Mary Sifford; two brothers, Charles and Robert Sifford; and three sisters, Leona Goodin, Nora Goodin and Minnie Freeman. Survivors: Daughter, Susan Paulette Lambert; granddaughter, Kelli Michele Lambert and grandson-to-be, Michael Burns; numerous nieces and nephews, whom she loved as her own children; devoted and loved roommate, Maggie Travis and longtime friend and sister, Ruth Frantz; and a host of beloved cherished friends.
