Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Groom Cemetery in Groom with the Rev. Tommy Ewing, pastor of Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mrs. Weems was born in Eldorado, Okla., on Sept. 8, 1908. She graduated from Eldorado High School. She married Dwight J. Weems on Nov. 29, 1925. They moved to Amarillo from Groom in 1950. She retired from St. Anthony's Hospital and was named Employee of the Year in 1969. She had been a faithful member of Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church since 1951. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1958; a son, Delwin Wayne Weems in 1974; a granddaughter, Jolynn Mashburn in 1972; a grandson, Doug Weems in 2002; and a great-grandson, Eric Humphreys in 2000. Survivors include a daughter, Loreta Shannon and husband, Walter B., of Amarillo; two sons, J. Dwight Weems and wife, Betty, of Levelland and George W. Weems and wife, Jean, of Lakewood, Colo.; a sister, Violet Baker and husband, Herb, of Oceanside, Calif.; a brother, Oran Driver of Eldorado; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church, 1016 S. Roberts St., Amarillo, TX 79102.
