He later moved to Iredell County, NC. He and his descendants were participants in the Revolutionary War, War of 1812 and Civil War. Most of Alexander's sons moved to Georgia where they became politically involved in the early development of that state. A great grandson of Alexander, Asa Reid, left Georgia, settled first in Alabama, and by 1840 was in Arkansas where his great grandson, Alonzo Cratin Reid was born 25 February 1883. Alonzo was the son of William C. and Martha Jane (Brock) Reid. After the death of his father Lon moved to Texas with his mother and step-father. By his early teens he was making his own way in Carter County, OK. It was there he met Pearl Freeman, daughter of Alfred H. and Nancy Thompson Freeman. Lon and Pearl were married in Berwyn (now Gene Autry), OK, on 8 Aug 1909. Their early married years were spent in Carter and Atoka counties. In 1926 they moved to Jefferson County and settled in the Irving community. In 1927 they moved east of Waurika on Highway 70, where Lon and Pearl lived until they retired and moved into Waruika. The Reid children were typical of most farm children. They accepted hard work, discipline, respect for their elders and schooling as a way of growing up. They have fond memories of their friends and school days at Irving. They often repeat stories of riding the school bus, both the joys and the not-so-joyous events--like the day in the winter of 1929-30. An unexpected snow storm came, the school bus became stranded and they were forced to walk across a field. They unanimously agree the icy weeds and grass on their bare legs was something they will remember forever. They also remember watching as the Red River flooded and they saw the railroad bridge float off down the river. Mr. Reid died on 10 September 1966 and Mrs. Reid on 1 November 1984 in Waurika, OK. Both are buried in the Waurika Cemetery. They had nine children, five of them now living in Waurika: Ona (Mrs. John Floyd); Lucille (Mrs. Dallas Moore); Madeline (Mrs. Woodrow Elkins); Lois (Mrs. Lloyd Cochenour); Nettie Ruth (Mrs. Hubert Cowan). One daughter, Bonnie (Mrs. Dean Frost), lives in Duncan, Stephens County and a son Elmer, lives in California. Jewel died in 1978 in California and Quentin died March 1998 in Waurika.
