Robbery Attempted at Addington after Night Watch Tied On Wednesday evening of last week, a very bold attempt was made to clean out the Hollaiater Mercantile Store of Addington, but the robbers were foiled after going so far as to have their loot piled up at the backdoor. The night watch was kidnapped about 10:30, taken to a gin house in the extreme west side of town, there tied and guarded by one man. The others entered the store from the front and sacked up great loads of dry goods and groceries and placed them at the back door ready for loading. Across the street from the store, there was a man sleeping on a upstairs porch. He awakened and saw someone walk in at the front door of the store. He whistled and called the name of the night watch, but got no response. It is thought this scared the men away without their loot. F. E. CARSON and B. E ADAM spent the day Thursday in the store getting the fingerprints and seeking any information that might lead to apprehension of the parties.
