Tuesday, October 19, 1915 Ringling News The Holdup Man Sunday evening about 8:00 while MISS BLANCHE DULANEY was alone on the switchboard in the office of the Pioneer Telephone Co. and the other operators were attending the picture show, a strange gentleman entered the outer office and inquired of the operator if she was not alone. She replied that she was not, but he insisted she was and attempted to enter the operating room, with the intention of acquiring what cash the company had in the office, whereupon, MISS DULANEY produced here six-shooter and induced the stranger to depart. She then phoned her brother, C. A DULANEY, who started to the office. A few moments later, the stranger re-entered the office but upon hearing the approach of Mr. Dulaney, he took his departure through the railroad yards. The manager of the Pioneer has located the gentleman in the oil field and he will be kept under surveillance. Robs Lumber Yards Wednesday morning, just before the noon hour, while O. S. DAVIS, manager of the Hudson-Houston Lumber Co., was out in the yard, loading some wagons, someone entered the office and took from the safe about $125 in money and checks. The greater part was in checks, however, on which payment was stopped at the bank and duplicates obtained. Later about 4:00 in the afternoon, the same thing occurred at the C. H. LUND Lumber yard and about $45 in cash was taken from the safe. The thief was not seen in either case. Wednesday night, Deputy Sheriff SIM STOTTS arrested a suspicious character who was drunk and placed him in the cooler. It was thought he had committed the thefts, but there is no evidence. Cornish Gets Newspaper A. J. MEADOR of Chickasha has purchased the old Orphans' Home Journal printing plant at Cornish and will establish a newspaper there. He hopes to be able to put his first issue before the public in a few weeks. The new paper will be independent in politics and will be devoted to the up building of Cornish and community. Fight on Moving Train Muskogee, Oct. 17--WILLIAM SHELDON, a deputy U. S. marshal of Grove, was seriously injured this afternoon in a fight with WILLIAM S.
