T., Aug. 7 A. M. GREENWOOD has returned home after a visit with relatives in Tishomingo. E. P. MOORE and G. L. TYSON made a business trip to Cornish. IRA and ARTHUR HICKS of Bonita, Montague County, Texas are visiting friends here. W. N. MOORE, who has been attending school at Ardmore, spent Saturday with his parents, Mr and Mrs. E. P. MOORE, and left Sunday to visit friends at St. Jo, Texas. ELDER HAMILTON of Loco was at Chagris Friday. The big meeting began here last night conducted by REV. SAVAGE and wife who are expecting more help in a few days. The congregation that greeted them was a large one, though quiet and attentive. Loco, I. T., August 7, 1905 The Missionary Baptists are conducting a series of meetings here at present. ELDER J. J. WARD is being assisted by ELDER HAREFIELD. PROF. HOLTZALAW of Fort Worth is teaching a Normal singing school here now. He is a splendid singer as well as teacher and great work is expected from the school. Several students from a distance are here. DR. HARPER, the dentist, is building a new dwelling house in the south part of town. The new gin is about completed. MR. TURPIN of Lindsay is visiting DR. CRANFIL this week. Local and Personal O. B. GRAVLEY of Cornish rolled one of Uncle Sam's cartwheels at us this morning to pay for the Journal a full year. W. G. NEWTON has changed his mail from Healdton to Cornish. Mr. Newton was the first person to subscribe to the OrphanY's Home Journal. MR. HATHAWAY's outfit from Loco is threshing for GEORGE SIMMONS today. MRS. C. E. BRATCHER moved to her new residence. We are proud to learn that JAMES SHAW and his young bride have come to Cornish to make it their home. Mr. Shaw is said to have caught one of the leading belles of Ryan. The Journal joins with Mr. Shaw's many friends in extending to him and his wife the warmest welcome. Lawyer TUCKER informs us that he will move back to Ardmore. PROF. W. C. HOGAN went to Ardmore on business. J. L. MCKASSON is building a house in new town this week. The building will be 24 x 50 and will occupied by a firm from Marietta that will carry a general line of goods. ELDER A. N. AVERYT came Wednesday and stayed overnight. He helped the Journey man with the press work in this office while here and proved to be a good hand. PROF. W. CARTER is in town this week. He has been selling books. J. W. HENCE, traveling salesman for TOOTER, WHEELER & MOTTER of St. Joe, Missouri, stepped into our office this morning and handed us a subscription for T. T. WOLSON and said to sent it to him every week. EARLES at Cornish. Our Special Correspondents Greenville, I. T. , Aug. 5 Editor As I have seen nothing in the Journal from this place for some time, I thought I would send you a few items. Greenville is improving someone; our postmaster has enlarged his store house and is now ready for fall trade. SMITH & WILLIAMS have their gin house completed and are ready for the machinery. They will be ready to gin all the cotton the boll worms leave. MR. WADE and MR. COPELAND report boll worms and weevils plentiful. Mr. Copeland came in the other day with a handful of what he thought were weevils, but I have never seen that kind of bug. Signed Pumpkin Seed. The quarterly conference for the Dixie circuit of the M. E. Church South will be held at Cornish Saturday and Sunday… J. A. ROWAN. P. C. Local and Personal C. E. BRATCHER's new residence is a nice building. J. H. CORNISH will soon be comfortably located in the most substantial building in town. The town of Cornish is more solid than ever before in its history. C. D. CARPENTER is now ready to meet the demand for fresh meat. he has erected a new building and installed a meat market north of the Cornish Mercantile Co. WILLIAM HACKLER and his young bride, nee MISS GAZELLE CROW, arrived at this place last week on a visit to relatives and friends. We are pleased to have this young couple with us and to know they are getting along so nicely. We wish them the best of good luck. I am personally acquainted with MR. WARREN, whose ad appears in this paper. PROF. W. F. COOK and wife have been secured to teach the Cornish school for the coming term. We feel sure that they will have a splendid school. He is a nice, Christian man well qualified for the position, and everybody should work to build up the school. Lightning struck and killed a horse Sunday night.
