ROBERTSON, dentist, established at Ryan 1898 Oil for Sugden On the 14th, GUYER and MAYES brought in a well three miles west of Sugden at a depth of 417 feet. The oil now stands within 100 feet of the top of the ground. The quality is said by expert oil men to be superior to any in the Henrietta oil fields and this well will no doubt furnish 200 barrels or more per day. The well is being visited every day. Slayer Convicted HARRISON PORTER, a well known full blood Chickasaw, member of a prominent family, has been convicted in federal court of killing DOUGLAS WRIGHT, a citizen of the Chickasaw Nation. KIT CARSON's Kin--KIT CARSON JR, and two sisters, MARY and BESSIE, who have been living at Cache, Comanche county, and who are grandchildren of the famous KIT CARSON, being quarter blood Sioux and one-sixteenth Cherokee, started to drive overland to Tombstone, Arizona Territory. The brother and one sister will go in a wagon while MISS BESSIE will ride a horse. A Big Store for Sugden R. L. GIBSON, our clever and obliging banker, informed the Leader representative a few days ago that he had closed the deal with a party living in Northern Oklahoma to come and open up a $10,000 stock of general merchandise. Mr. Gibson has been hard at work fro several months trying to land an establishment of this kind in Sugden and he says he has at last succeeded in doing so. Mr. Gibson donated his business house next door to HARRIS's saddle shop in order to influence this store to come here. The house is 30 x 40 feet and it will be pulled out form where is now stands to a vacant corner lot in the next few days where it will have an addition of 40 feet added to it, making the building 30 x 80 feet which will make a good sized house, plenty large to carry on a large business. Mr. Gibson is an hustler when it comes to working for his town. W. A. PADDOCK moved his family to town the fore part of the week to the residence he recently bought from C. V. EASTERLING. STEVE GIBSON took in the sights over at the oil fields across the river Monday. A. C. THOMPSON of Henrietta spent a couple of days here with his son and family. The Sugden school opened up Monday with good attendance. PROFESSOR CARTER, the principal, s said to be a very fine teacher and no doubt we will have the best session ever taught in this city. L. E. ROBERTS after a ten day visit to the World Fair returned home Monday. Mr. Roberts reports a very pleasant trip and he says he don't regret going. DR. E. E. CARLTON of Ringgold, Texas of the firm of CARLTON BROTHERS of the Palace Drug Store, was in town Tuesday looking after his business interest. RILEY ANTLERS of Oklahoma City was a pleasant caller at the office Monday. Mr. Antlers had us to give him credit for another dollar to the Leader before leaving. J. L. MORGAN, ramrod of the Waurika News, was a pleasant caller at this office Monday. Mr. Morgan reports everything running smoothly in his neck of the woods. C. P. HARRIS, our saddle and harness man, is building a wide reputation all over the Indian Territory, Oklahoma and northwest Texas on the fine saddles he is now turning out. In fact Mr. Harris is the only man in the northwest that is building quilted seat saddles and he is the only one that is prepared to turn out an up to date job of this kind and he finds ready sale for every one of his saddles by the time before they are complete. DR. E. E. CARLTON of Ringgold and his brother J. T. CARLTON of Terral have bought the Palace Drug Store from J. H. MCMILLAND. J. T. Carlton, the junior of the new firm, will have charge of the business here. Banner News MISS EHTEL JEFFEY is visiting near Comanche and Duncan. J. A. HEENAN of Ryan made a business trip to this vicinity Wednesday. MRS. ROY MARTIN of Riverview is the guest of the family of REV. D. W. HUGHES. MRS. J. V. LOBDELL of Mountainview is visiting relatives near Sugden, Riverview, and Banner. E. L. PEERY sold his farm to T. L. MCMENAMY of Riverview and Mr. Peery has since purchased the farm of W. A. HARRIS. We regret to lose our neighbor. UNCLE GEORGE HENTON, one of our east side well to do farmers and stock raisers, was in town Tuesday buying supplies from our merchants. Uncle George says a person can buy more goods in Sugden for a dollar than any place on earth. R. L. GIBSON is having an expensive addition built on to his bank building. WALTER HARRIS sold his place west of here on Red River to E. R. PEERY. Consideration: $5000. MRS. C. P. HARRIS and her two children who have been in Texas visiting relatives are expected home tomorrow. J. W. THOMPSON at Sugden for new goods and bargain counter.
