Maddox The funeral service for Nila B. Maddox will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland. Pastor James Curty of Ashland Church of the Nazarene will officiate. Interment will follow in Scenic Hills Memorial Park, Ashland. Mrs. Maddox, 76, or Ashland, died Monday (May 20, 2002) at her home following a long illness. Memorial contributions to the Ashland Church of the Nazarene, 1760 E. Main St., Ashland, OR 97520 or to Providence Medford Medical Center Foundation, Hospice, 1111 Crater Lake Ave., Medford, OR 97520. She was born February 12, 1926, in Ryan, Okla., to Cammie and Henry Bussey. The family moved to San Diego, where in the ear]y 1940s, she worked in the shipyards. In 1945 she moved with her family to Riverbank, Calif., where she worked in a fruit cannery. In 1950, in Reno, Nev., she married Kenneth C. "Don" Maddox. They met in 1946. when Mr. Maddox, was playing country music in a honky tonk in Riverbank with his brothers and sister, Rose Maddox, who later became well-known in country music business as "Maddox Brothers & Rose." They lived in Modesto, Calif., until 1951 when they moved to Hollywood, Calif. In 1958, she and her husband bought a ranch in Ashland, where they raised Black Angus cattle, sheep and hay. Mrs. Maddox worked at the First Interstate Bank in Ashland until her retirement in 1980. She was a member of the Ashland Church of the Nazarene. Survivors, in addition to her husband, include her twin sister, Ila Shober, Gillette, Wyo.; three brothers, Glenn Bussey, Tucson, Ariz., Chappie Bussey, Modesto, Calif., and Wayne Bussey, Modesto, Calif.
