Visitation will be held on Sunday from noon until 5 p.m. at Hopson-Anspach Family Mortuary Lamont. Mary Elizabeth Brogdon, known as Granny Mary, passed on from this life to her Heavenly Home on January 16, 2002. Mary was born on September 19, 1912 in Denton County, Texas and was raised in Ryan, Oklahoma. She came to Kern County in 1937 where she resided in Lamont for many years and later moved to Bakersfield. She was a member of the Lamont Assembly of God Church for 27 years. Mary loved serving God and being able to work and repair things around the house. Her greatest desire was for all her family to serve God and be happy and healthy. Mary is survived by her daughters, Dina Brodgon and Jeane Waldram and husband Al; sons, Raymond and wife Doris, Jesse and wife, Emma, Wes and wife, Lee and Glen Brogdon, all of Bakersfield; 24 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 13 great great grandchildren, all of who she loved dearly. She also leaves behind a dear friend who she loved like a daughter, Carolyn Lester. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse H. Brogdon, daughter, Francis Chipper Lorraine Brogdon, son, Lorence Ray Brogdon and sister and brother-in-law, Bessie and Robert Richards.
