He was a long- time resident of Porterville, CA. He was born on May 10, 1921, in Hastings, Oklahoma to Charles and Lela Beene. He was always involved in agriculture and farmed in Oklahoma and Pond, CA. He loved to nurture and watch the earth produce growth whether in crops or his own garden. Kenneth was a WWII veteran and served in the 106th Infantry in the Pacific Theater. He was a squad leader of 12 men in infiltration activities. It was during a battle that he accepeted The Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior in a foxhole with his comrades fighting and dying on each side of him. He was always faithful to his Lord and would testify of the many times God took care of him during the war and the remaining years of his life. He was awarded a Battle Star and a Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon. He was also a leader of a group of military police during the war trials in Japan before being discharged on February 9, 1946. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lavern; son, Kenneth Wayne and wife, Linda of Kingsport, TN, Randy of the Bay area, and daughter, Lavona and husband, Larry Woolley of Bakersfield, CA. He had four grandsons and four granddaughters who loved him dearly as Papa Beene and eight (and one coming) great- grandchildren. He will be missed by his family and friends but we know he is with the Lord he loved and the Bible teachings he taught by faith for so many years are now a reality for him. We want to thank Optimal for their help during this time and to Dr. Jasvir Sidhu and his staff for their years of love and care for our father. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 10, at 2:00 p.m., at Delano Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Optimal Hospice, Bakersfield.
