All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Duncan Banner 11 Sep 2003 Joel Amos Cantrell MARLOW — Joel Amos Cantrell, 78, of Marlow died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003, in Marlow Manor Nursing Home. Service will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home Chapel in Marlow with Brian Blackburn officiating. Burial will be in Ravia Cemetery. Joel Amos was born Oct. 3, 1924, in Terral, to James William and Sidney Caroline Dixon Cantrell. He married Virginia “Jo” Boyer on March 24, 1947. Mr. Cantrell was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army. He lived in Marlow for the past 12 years, in Elgin for 25 years and prior to that in Ravia. He had worked as the Plumbing Shop Supervisor at Fort Sill. Joel was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elgin. He enjoyed his family, as well as watching OU sports, fishing, hunting and the VFW. He also enjoyed working in his garden. Survivors include his wife of Marlow; a son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Janet Cantrell of Ninnekah; two daughters and a son-in-law, Elaine Gdanski and Susie and Wayne Swain, all of Marlow; a sister-in-law, Neta Watts and her husband, Harold, of Duncan; six grandchildren; and seven great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, Roscoe Cantrell, J.D. Cantrell, Ike Cantrell, Cliff Lane and Carl Lane. Bearers will be Jim Lane, Joe Lane, Kevin Bradshaw, Charley Bearden, Dick Wann and Wayne Swain. Honorary bearers are Othal Means, Harvey Miller, Scotty Ambrose, Homer Koch and Danny Wood.
