Daniel, 58, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Assembly of God Church. Burial will be in Lane Memorial Cemetery in Sunray by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas. Mr. Daniel was born to John Wilson Daniel and Lucinda Ann Perry Daniel on Nov. 12, 1945, in Ringling, Okla. In 1966, Vurney graduated from Sunray High School. He served four years in the Air Force. Vurney married Debra Ruth Bassham on Dec. 28, 1973, in Sunray. He worked for Valor Telecom for 27 years. He was an avid Sunray Bobcat fan. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Delynn Renea Daniel; his father; his mother; a brother, David Euel "Red" Daniel; and a sister, Margaret Lou Spruells. Survivors include his wife; a son, Kendall Waylon Daniel and special friend, Tabitha Stipe, of Dumas; a grandson, Andrew Jameson of Dumas; a sister, Patsy Jean Kinzy of Amarillo; three aunts, Penny Nemsgern of Dumas, Beth Daniel of Lubbock and Aline Wade of Byers; an uncle, Calvin Hickey of Dumas; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins, who referred to Vurney as "The Other Brother"; and a host of dear friends. The family suggests memorials be to Dumas Memorial Hospice, 224 E. 2nd, Dumas, TX 79029 or to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, P.O. Box 1890, Amarillo, TX 79174. The family will be at 1204 Walnut.
