"Dub" Embree, 91, of Ryan died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2002, in Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City. Service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Ryan Church of Christ with Jerry Hurst officiating. Burial will be in Ryan Cemetery under the direction of Carter-Smart Funeral Home of Duncan. Visitation will be today until service time on Saturday at the Ryan Church of Christ. Mr. Embree was born July 6, 1911, in Fleetwood, to Elisha T. and Sally Miller Embree. His father became ill when Dub was in the seventh grade and he had to quit school to help support the family. He married Dorothy Davis on Oct. 11, 1941, in Waurika. She preceded him in death on July 21, 1998. Mr. Embree retired after 20 years of service with Jefferson County. He also worked in the oilfield and was a cowboy. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Marvin and Leann Embree of Edmond; a grandson, Eli Embree of Oklahoma City; two step-grandchildren, Erin Leach of Houston, Texas, and Jason Leach of Oklahoma City; a sister, Faye Hoggatt of Wylie, Texas; and a niece, Vera Driver of Ada. He was also preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and four sisters.
