All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== :Waurika Cemetery--Waurika OK Duncan Banner 20 Aug 2002 Sue Beth Glenn WAURIKA - Service for Sue Beth Glenn, 87, who died Friday, Aug. 16, 2002, in Longview, Wash., will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Carter-Smart Funeral Home in Duncan. ========= Duncan Banner 21 Aug 2002 Sue Beth Durrett Glenn WAURIKA - Sue Beth Durrett Glenn, of Longview died Friday, Aug. 16, 2002, in St. John Medical Center in Longview. Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Waurika Cemetery with Willis Worley Jr. officiating. Arrangements are under the direction Carter Smart Funeral in Duncan. Mrs. Glenn was born in Waurika to George and Vesta (Edmondson) Taber and graduated from Waurika High School in 1931. She attended Texas State College for Women, graduating in 1939, with a bachelor's degree in education. She married Henry C. Durrett in 1942, and they moved to the Longview area in 1948. He preceded her in death. She married Garlin B. Glenn in 1976, and he preceded her in death in 1986. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Longview where she taught Sunday School. She was the 1962-1963 president of Longview BPW Club and was active in the PTA. She taught at Wallace Elementary, Butler Acres Elementary and retired from Washington Elementary School in Kelso in 1976, where she taught remedial reading. Her teaching was very important to her and she strongly emphasized the importance of reading. She was known for her famous saying "I love hats, cats and kids, but love my Savior Lord Jesus Christ the most." She always said that and in that exact order. She was able to stay in her own home and remain an independent, strong individual because of the close companionship and friendship she shared with Willie Whitted of Longview. Survivors include her nephews, Larry Taber and Jim Evans, both of Houston, Johnny George Taber of Oklahoma City, George English of Medicine Park, Jim English of Maysville; a niece, Sandra Webb of Addington; and numerous friends.
