HIGHTOWER RITES HELD Leroy Grady Hightower, 82, well-known Terral resident, died Tuesday afternoon, January 28, in a Nocona hospital after a brief illness. Services wre held Thursday afternoon at the Terral Methodist Church with the Reverend Bryan Spivey, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Terral Cemetery under the direction of Worley Funeral Home of Waurika. Hightower was born December 22, 1892 in Belcherville, Texas. He moved to Terral, Indian Territory, with his parents in June of 1893. His family built the first brick building in Terral and operated a general store there. He received this early schooling in Terral and Ardmore and later attended the University of Oklahoma School of Pharmacy. He and Nina Kathryn Flood were married April 21, 1921, in Terral and the family operated a drugstore there. Mrs. Hightower died June 6, 1958. Mr. Hightower continued to operate the drugstore until October of 1974 when he sold the business. In January, 1964, he was honored with a 50-year certificate by the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy as a member in good standing. A veteran of World War I, he was active in the Terral Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and a past member of the City Council, Board of Education and Chamber of Commerce. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. D. Wayne (Frances) Wilson, Jr. of Dallas and Mrs. J.T. (Mary) Armstrong of Midwest City; one son, Tommy, of Anchorage, Alaska; two sisters, Mrs. David Wray of Wichita Falls and Mrs. J.R. Gaddy of Terral; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. Pallbearers were W.L. Thomas, M.C. Bussey, Bob Lewis, C.J.
