All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Jackson, Douglas Eugene Douglas Eugene Jackson Douglas Eugene Jackson passed away on April 21, 2004 at his home in Durham, Oregon. He was 81 years old. Born November 16, 1922 in Hastings, Oklahoma to Francis Marion and Mary Edna Jackson, he moved to California at the age of 7 and lived there until his recent move to Oregon in 2003. He was a veteran of the Second World War having served three and a half years in the Pacific with the 41st Infantry Division, ending his service as a member of the first occupational forces of Japan. He attained the rank of Tech Sergeant with the 146th Field Artillery Battalion and earned the World War II Victory Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with Bronze Arrowhead for service in the Philippines, Philippine Liberation Medal with Cluster, and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a retired Electrical Supervisor with the Lawrence Livermore Laboratory and a long time member of IBEW 595. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, the former Joyce Wallace. He is also survived by his daughter, Carla Matter and her husband, Herb of Tualatin, Oregon; his son, Keith Jackson and his wife, Carolyn of Fremont, California; five grandchildren, Paul Matter and his wife Alli, Holli Matter, and Michael Matter of the Portland Oregon area, Jeff Jackson and his wife, Jennifer of Fontana, California, Kevin Jackson of Fremont, California; four great grandchildren, Jonathon, Andrew, and Rylli Matter of Portland, Oregon, Julianna Jackson of Fontana, California; his only sister, Laverne Biagi of Crockett, California; his mother-in-law, Winnie Wallace; and brother and sister-in-law, Noel and Madeline Wallace of Rodeo, California. He was laid to rest in the Willamette Veteran's Cemetery in Portland, Oregon with full military honors. The family requests donations, in lieu of flowers, to the Rolling Hills Community Church Building Bridges Program at 3550 SW Borland, Rd., Tualatin, Oregon 97062.
