Donald R.Jackson Sr., 71, made a peaceful transition from this physical world to his eternal rest while sleeping Friday, May 26, 2006. Funeral: 9:30 a.m.Saturday, June 3, in Mount Olivet Chapel. Burial: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m.Friday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home. Memorials: American Heart Association, American Cancer Association or Abused Children. Donald R. Jackson Sr. was born Jan.21, 1935, in Waurika, Okla., the eldest of four children born to Clifton "Toad" and Thelma Jackson. Don married his high school sweetheart, Joyce Dickenson, on Nov.18, 1955. He worked for Tarrant County College until his retirement in 1989. In 2004, they moved from Richland Hills to their current residence in Weatherford. Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors: Wife of 50 years, Joyce; son, Donald Ray Jackson Jr., presently working in Baghdad, Iraq; daughters, Devonna and husband, John Menard, of Fort Worth and Leisa and husband, Johnny Potter, of Hemphill; brothers, Leon and wife, Norma Jackson, of Chico and Kenneth and wife, Gloria Jackson, of Perkins, Okla.; sister, Nancy Kay and husband, Mitch Mitchell, of Walters, Okla.; eight wonderful grandchildren; and three energetic great-grandchildren.
