Betty Imogene Martin Graveside service for Betty Imogene Martin, 72, formerly of Waurika, who died Monday, May 20, 2002, in the Duncan Care Center, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Gracemont Cemetery with the Rev. Troy Manley officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Smith-Hackney Funeral Home of Anadarko. ========= Duncan Banner 23 May 2002 Walter ‘Bud’ Kerley Walter J. “Bud” Kerley, 73, went to be with his precious and loving Heavenly Father on Tuesday, May 21, 2002, in Duncan Regional Hospital. Service will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the Bethel Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Ron Meador officiating and the Rev. Chris Brown assisting. Burial will be in Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin under the direction of Bailes-Polk Funeral Home in Duncan. Mr. Kerley was born March 28, 1929, in Ringling to William J. and Cynthia Stella Howell Kerley. He married Wilma Joy Stewart on July 5, 1949, in Henrietta, Texas. He worked at Jones Supermarket in Duncan for 21 years. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1952 to 1954, and was an active member of the Bethel Assembly of God Church where he served for several years as the Sunday School superintendent and later as church secretary. In 1965, he founded and built the Teen Round Up of Duncan, a ministry for youth, from the ground up with his own hands. Mr. Kerley worked for many years in evangelistic and missionary work in the United States as well as in many other countries including Japan, Israel, Africa and Mexico. He was a songwriter, singer, musician and recording artist and was blessed with a gift for serving his fellow man while never asking for credit. Survivors include his wife, Joy, of the home; a son, Kim Kerley of Duncan; a daughter, Karla Kerley Rains of Duncan; two brothers, J.A. Kerley of Oklahoma City and Guy Kerley of Ringling; two sisters, Estelle Chestnut of Duncan and Inez Hopkins of Grand Prairie, Texas; eight grandchildren, Kyle Wayne Lewis and Collin Wade Lewis, both of Frisco, Texas, Calvin Walter Kerley, Bethany Roxanne Perkins, Russell Rains, and Chaz Cody Rains, all of Duncan, Mary Jayne Price of Bakersfield, Calif., and Scott Rains of Cyril; and three great-grandchildren, Michael Price of Bakersfield, Jake Austin Perkins and Jonathan Blake Perkins, both of Duncan. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a sister and a great-grandchild, Joshua Clay Perkins. Bearers will be Harold Parrish, Larry Odom, Dennis Lewis, Kyle Lewis, Collin Lewis, Floyd Owens, Charles Patterson, Thurman Chasteen and the Rev.
