All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== McCorkle, Charles Ovid (Pete) Charles (Pete) Ovid MoCorkle, 67, of Oklahoma City went to his reward Sunday, December 29, 2002 at Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, after a short illness. Born June 28, 1935 in Ryan, OK to Walter L. & Lena M. McCorkle, Pete was the youngest of six children. Pete moved to Duncan, OK early in his childhood where he met Tom Goodner who was to be his life- long friend and to whom he was close until the time of his death. In the 1950's he met Jewel O. Biffle, a single mother with two small children. On February 3, 1957 Pete and Jewel married in Wichita Falls, TX and he became 'Daddy' to his two oldest children, Margie & Diane. After eight years of trying they were blessed with another daughter, Jewel Mae, and two years later Candy was born. In 1968, Pete and his family moved to Oklahoma City. Pete was a skilled carpenter and millwright and a proud member of Local Carpenter's Union #329 in Oklahoma City for 45 years, where he made many good friends. He retired in 1997, but remained active in the union until the time of his death. Pete is preceded in death by his wife: Jewel; parents: Walter and Lena; parents-in-law: Henderson Porter and Myrl Biffle; brothers: Lloyd and Walter Lee, Jr. (Jack); sister: Nina Woods; and sister by marriage: Viola Chandler. He is survived by four daughters: Margaret M. King of Atlanta, GA, Diane Burk of Arlington, TX, Jewel Mae McCorkle of Oklahoma City, and Candace Lee McCorkle-Aaron also of Oklahoma City; two, sisters: Wanda Mills of Oklahoma City and Dorothy Scott of Duncan; six grandchildren: Preston Reed, John Sissom, Jr., Taribea Burk, Charlotte McCorkle, Jewel McCorkle and Courtney Aaron; one great-grandson: Dellon Preston Reed; sisters and brothers by marriage: Dewey McCorkle, Carl W. and Mae Patow, Ray and Vera Powers, Richard and Vinita Biffle and Alfred P. and Carol Biffle; and many nieces and nephews who loved him. A memorial service is to be held Tuesday December 31, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at Southern Hills Church of God, 1029 S.W. 74th Street, Oklahoma City Interment will be at Rose Hill Burial Park in Oklahoma City.
