Riggle Vernon J. "Tarzan" Riggle, 86, of Ringling, died Jan. 31, 2006 in Ardmore. He was born Dec. 7, 1919 to Jacob Asbury Riggle and Ethel Mae McCrory Riggle. On Sept. 12, 1940 he married Ms. Lavina Hallum in Claremore. Vernon moved to Okinawa, Japan after World War II, where he worked in construction. He also helped construct the Shasta Dam in Central Valley, Calif. Vernon, better known as "Tarzan," moved to Ringling in 1955 and began working for Texaco Oil Company as an electrician. He retired from Texaco in the late 1980s after being employed for 35 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Susan Kathleen Romine. Vernon is survived by: his wife, Lavina, of the home; three sons, Vernon Riggle and wife Sharolette, of Davis, Jake Riggle, of Healdton, and Steven Riggle and wife Laura, of Ada; one son-in-law, Stephen Romine, of Ringling; three sisters, Louise Wilson, Doris Wells and Betty Piernikowski, all of Sapulpa; one brother, Phillip Riggle and wife Katherine of Sapulpa; 15 grandchildren, Sammie Cunningham, Misty Moiser, Stephanie Cassidy, Keela Boisseau, Mark Riggle, Tara Riggle, Maggie Riggle, Tiffany Riggle, Courtney Riggle, Steve Riggle, Rusty Romine, Patricia Finch, Loni Hendrix, Matthew Hendrix and Samuel Hendrix; 14 great-grandchildren, Trent, Blake and Traven Cunningham, Brittany Moiser, Vance Cassidy, Kera, Sloan and Luke Walker, Braden Boisseau, Kaylyn and Brent Riggle, Jefferey Moore and Alex and Eli Finch. Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006 at the First Baptist Church in Ringling with the Rev. Nick Ellis officiating. Interment will be at Ringling Memorial Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Trent Cunningham, Mark Riggle, Steve Riggle, Robert Fisher, J.B. Means, Billy Price, J.R. "Roscoe" Gunter and Jim Bill Tolbert. Honorary casketbearers will be Vernon’s grandchildren.
