Services will be at 3 p.m. today in the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Clarence Mize, pastor of the Irving Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at the Ryan Cemetery. Arrangements are by Grantham-Worley Funeral Home. Mrs. Southard was born in Courtney. In 1919 the family moved to a farm west of Ryan, and in 1926, they moved into the town of Ryan. She grew up in the Ryan area and graduated from Ryan High School in 1930. She continued her education at Central State College at Edmond and received a Provisional Teacher's Certificate. She taught school at the Irving Consolidated School west of Ryan. She married Charlie Southard in 1936 at Ryan. They made their home on a farm west of Ryan. He died in 1978. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Spragins of Payson, Ariz., and Susan Krittenbrink of Rogersville, Mo.; two sons, Thornton Southard of Fritch, Texas, and Carlie Southard of Ryan; a sister, Edith Bittick of Ryan; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Jefferson County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/jefferson/jefferson.htm
