He was born March 10, 1916 in Ryan, OK. David worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad as a Bridge/Building Foreman for 34 years. His crew nicknamed him "Herbie". He loved to cut out humorous newspaper clippings and would share with all who would listen. David was a lifetime member of the Church of Christ. Memorial services will commence at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 14 at Frye Chapel in Brawley with Jack Wright officiating. David is survived by his wife, Rita Vernon of Brawley; son and his spouse, Daniel and Letty Vernon of Brawley; daughter, Linda Lee Moore of Brawley; daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy and Frank Flores of Chico, Sally Ann and Ray Derma of Imperial; 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
