Wolf, b. 1871 in TX, was the g,g,g,g, great grandson of Michael Wolf who landed in PA on the Ship Richard and Mary in 1754 having embarked from Rotterdam. His family can be traced then to NC till 1790, KY till 1818, AR till after Civil War in 1867, TX from 1871 into IT where he is found in 1884 when daughter, Ollie May Wolf, was born to he and his second wife, Myra Smith Wolf. Also found in that household was Myra’s father, John Smith. The couple eventually had four children: William, Mattie, Ollie, Linnie. Two children by his first wife, Sarah Jane Adams, are also found in the area - son, Urah Lee and wife, Dora McGinnis Wolf, and daughter, Georgia A. (Wolf) Craig Atteberry and husbands J. C. Craig and John Atteberry. As best as can be determined, Mattie did not live to adulthood. William, Ollie and Linnie all married and had children living in the county. The Craig and Atteberry descendants lived in Atoka, Coal, Seminole, and Johnston counties of Oklahoma. Dr. Asa M. Wolf was the son of George Washington Wolf who was named for President Washington. Asa’s father, Jacob Wolf, encountered the President when he was on a visit to Salisbury, NC and Jacob was 5 years old. Getting to wave at the President from the road was an experience Major Jacob Wolf spoke of all of his life. Major Jacob Wolf was a very prominent figure in Arkansas history. His establishment standing in Norfork, AR was dedicated in June, 2003 as the oldest public building - postoffice and courthouse in the Arkansas Territory. Though Dr. Wolf only lived about ten years of his life in Johnston Co., OK his descendants are still residing there today. His daughter Ollie May married William French who became, County Judge for Johnston Co and also served the state during Governor Murray’s term in office. Dr. Wolf and his wife were to have been buried in the Milburn Cemetery in Johnston County. Headstones have not been documented as of yet.
