[McHugh] Allen Funeral services for Vera E. Allen, 95, of Chickasha will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday May 22, 2006, in the Parkview Christian Church with Jerl Joslin officiating. Vera Allen was born September 23, 1910, in Norton, Oklahoma, the daughter of John E. McHugh and Lottie [Renfrow] McHugh. She died Friay, May 19, 2006, at her home. Vera came to Chickasha in 1928, from the Johnston County area, after she completed her nurses training. Vera and Daniel M. Allen were married on May 29, 1932. They had 66 wonderful years together before Dan preceded her in death in 1998. She worked as an interior decorator from 1940 until 1972, putting her brilliant insights into many of the local homes and businesses all over Oklahoma. She was a member of the Parkview Christian Church, the Rebekah Lodge, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Grady County Democrat Women's Club, and the Women's Business Club. Vera was very active in the community and volunteered a lot of her time to various organizations. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan; both parents; two sisters: Neva Goade and Dora Gable; and brother, Fred McHugh. She is survived by sister, Edith Dowdy; two dear nephews: Clark and Mike Gable; dear niece, Carol Emerson; and a host of other nieces, nephews, and friends.
