All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Shafter Memorial Park--Shafter CA Artie Gene Garrison Dec. 22, 1932 May 31, 2002 Memorial services will be conducted by Peters Funeral Home on June 8, 2002 at St. Marks Episcopal Church in Shafter at 10:00 a.m., with interment to follow at Shafter Memorial Park. Officiating at the service will be Reverend Mark Lawrence of St. Pauls Episcopal Church of Bakersfield. Artie Gene Garrison was born to C.B. and Naomi Garrison in Mill Creek, Oklahoma on December 22, 1932. Artie was the second of seven children. As a young child the family moved to Kern County. He attended and graduated from Beardsley School and went on to graduate from Wasco High School. He was the Lease Foreman for Gilliland Oil Company in Devils Den for nearly 40 years. This is also where he raised his family. Artie had a strong work ethic and sense of responsibility that he instilled in his children. He taught them to be strong and self-reliant. He was known by many for his sense of humor and generosity. He had a rough exterior but had a heart of gold. Artie was someone who could be counted on no matter what the situation. He is greatly loved and will be missed immensely. Artie is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lola; son, Michael and wife, Catherine of Hawaii; two daughters, Belinda Rowland of Bakersfield, and Becky and husband Tim McCurry of Shafter. Grandchildren, Matthew, Anthony and Eric Garrison, Nick and Katie Rowland, and Jocelyn and Timothy McCurry.
