She passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2006, in Fresno, California, after a short illness. Ruby grew up in Selma, California where she graduated from high school. She lived most of her married life in Fresno, California. Ruby retired from AT&T in 1988 where she had been an administrative assistant to the Vice President over Central California and the state of Nevada.
