Herrin Opal L. Herrin of Lemoore passed away Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006 in a Bakersfield hospital at the age of 83 years. Opal was born May 14, 1923 in Nida, Okla., to Carl and Abbie Reese. She married Harland Herrin on September 7, 1947 and moved to Lemoore in 1951, where she began her teaching career at Lemoore High School. Since retiring from teaching in 1983, she began her second career as a real estate agent/broker and continued working despite illness, until her last days. She is survived and will be missed by her brother, Bobby Reese of Mountain View, Okla.; sons, Ricky Herrin and Randy Herrin both of Lemoore; grandchildren, Rick Herrin of Seattle, Wash., Oliver Herrin of Tacoma, Wsh., Lori Welch and Erik Herrin both of Lemoore and one great-grandchild, Evan Welch of Lemoore. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Phipps-Dale Funeral Chapel in Lemoore. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Lemoore First Baptist Church with burial following in the Lemoore Cemetery.
