She was born September 14, 1920 in Mill Creek, OK to parents J.B. and Florence Othella (Smith) Chester. Allie Lee attended school in Mill Creek and graduated from Sulphur High School. On June 2, 1940, Allie married the love of her life, Roy Lester Howard. Soon after this union, Allie and Roy moved to OKC, where they established their home and later opened along with Roy's brother Ray, the family business, Howard Bros. Florist. Allie embraced people and life with a great passion. She loved people and thoroughly enjoyed her work in sales at the flower shop. Serving her customers and community throughout the years, brought her great joy. Allie was a charter member of Asbury United Methodist Church and actively participated in many different organizations such as U.M.W, Hillcrest Book Club and Gamma Psi Club. Allie loved people and cherished her family and friends. She was preceded in death by: her loving husband, Roy on Sept. 8, 1988; her parents; one infant brother and 2 brothers: Bentley and Estell Chester; 7 sisters: Uriel Matthews, Virgie Robertson, Lottie Dupree, Bertie McKown, Bertha Pasby, Othella Crane and Thelma Mitchell. She is survived by: children, Lester Howard & wife Carol and Jerry Howard & wife Alberta; sister, Vera Walker; 4 grandchildren: Lance Howard, M.D., Candice Bronson and her husband Jason, Kurt and Jill Howard; and many nieces and nephews. Allie was a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend, who will be greatly missed by all. Services to celebrate her life will be held 10:00 AM, Thursday May 1, 2003 Vondel Smith Mortuary South Colonial Chapel with Rev. Charles Wells officiating.
