Petty and Mildred Byrd Petty. He passed away at his home in Wynnewood, Ok, On Monday, August 21, 2001, after a battle with lung cancer. Bill began his career in the oilfields in Fox, OK. The family moved to Casper, WY, Hobbs, NM and on to Bakersfield, CA where he continued to advance in the oil business. Bill also spent 4 years at the Atomic Test site near Tonopah, NV. While in Bakersfield Bill became Drilling Superintendent of Marlin West Drilling Co. The last 20 years of his career he worked as a Fishing Tool Supervisor, traveling all over California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, New Mexico, Old Mexico, South America and Alaska. In 1994 Bill retired and move to Wynnewood, OK. Along with his wife Angie Warner Petty of Wynnewood, Bill is survived by a brother Hank Petty of Mannsvile, and a sister Carol Shumaker of Ardmore. Three sons, Jerry Don of Mannsville, Tommy Bret of Byng, Acie Dale of Wynnewood, all in Oklahoma and one daughter Rhonda Jo Moseley of Bakersfield, CA and their spouses, also survive Bill. Bill has nine grandchildren, Kristin Dawn, Shayne, Rebecca, Samantha, Byron, Maghen, Preston, Alex and Clint. Services will be held at Ardmore, OK on Thursday, August 23, 2001 at 10am.
