Jefferson C. 'J.C.', was born Nov. 20, 1916 near Bromide, Oklahoma to Albert Clay and Lillie May White. Raised on a farm with 2 sisters, Sybil and Opal and 2 brothers, Clifford and Calvin. He began teaching in Southeastern Oklahoma where he met his bride, Margaret Ann. They were married on March 14, 1942. World War II interrupted plans and J.C. served in the 82nd Airborne Fighter Control Squadron. After the war 2 children, Jefry Carl and Judy Ann, were born. He worked as a teacher, coach and counselor at Taft Junior High, Northwest Classen High School and Harding Middle School before retiring in 1980. For several decades he coordinated the Central Branch YMCA Junior Baseball Program. He was active in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, United Commercial Travelers and served as Council Secretary and member of Northwest Baptist Church. J.C. enjoyed gardening and 'tinkering' and he knew no strangers. He leaves behind his other hat and pair of britches to be cherished by his son, daughter, 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. He was preceded in death by his wife, a grandson, Derek, his sister, Sylvia, his parents and numerous friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 23, 2002 at the Northwest Baptist Church with interment following at Rose Hill Burial Park.
