(Owens) Doyle Alene E. Doyle, former longtime Ponca City resident, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at Willis-Knighton Hospital in Shreveport, La. She was 82. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 12, at Ranch Drive Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Calvert, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery under the direction of Trout Funeral Home. Alene was born on Dec. 30, 1920, in Lexington, Okla., to Franklin P. and Effie Dickason Owens. She was raised in Lexington, attended Lexington public schools as well as Oklahoma University. She married James Joseph Doyle on Dec. 4, 1942, in Oklahoma City. He preceded her in death on Sept. 14, 1990. The couple moved to Ponca City in 1944 where James worked for Conoco and Alene was a homemaker. She was a member of Ranch Drive Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for more than 50 years, from beginners to senior adults. She enjoyed bowling, travel, and she actively participated in the Salt Fork Home Demonstration Club. She is survived by three sons, David Doyle and his wife Lesa of Houston, Texas, Mark Doyle and his wife Edna Faye of Shreveport, La., and Paul Doyle and his wife Nitza of The Woodlands, Texas, one daughter, Mary Ellen Cantrell of Fort Worth, Texas, two brothers, Carl Owens of Mayesville and Ivan Owens of Wayne, 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Cecil Owens, Jesse Owens and Chester Owens, and three sisters, Gladys Arnold, Opal Koster and Hazel Page. Casket bearers will be David Doyle, Mark Doyle, Paul Doyle, Martin Steichen, Bob Densen, and Bob Meyers. Honorary bearers will be Paul Maccini, John Day, Eliot Doyle, Marc Doyle and Charles Irby.
