Barber Sr., 57, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000. Graveside services with military honors will be at 11 a.m. today in Sudan Cemetery in , Texas by Ellis Funeral Home of Sudan. Memorial services were at 2 p.m. Friday in Baggerley Funeral Home in Edmond, Okla. Mr. Barber was born in Vernon and grew up in Sudan where he attended schools. He served in the Air Force at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. He was a cross-country trucker for Transcon of Oklahoma City. Mr. Barber was a member of the Oklahoma Capital Patrol, retiring in 1996. He attended Oscar Rose Junior College. Mr. Barber was the chief executive officer of the Lucky B Corp. He moved to Ponca City in 1996. Survivors include two daughters, Laurie Ann Collinsworth of Konawa and Tammy Lynn Bounds of Ponca City; a son, James Rodgers Barber Jr. of Konawa; a sister, Dorthy Hill of Sudan; two half sisters, Roxanne Rogers and Shelby Long; 10 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
