A funeral mass was held at 11:00 a.m. Dec. 8 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Rushville, IL, with Fr. Robert Reynolds officiating. Burial was in Browning Cemetery in Browning, IL. Alice was born at Newkirk to William M. and Florence M. Voegele (Biggerstaff). At the age of 13, she moved with her family to Marine, IL, and at 19 she moved to St. Louis, MO. She worked at the Masonic Hospital where she began her nursing training and lived in the nurse's quarters at the hospital. She was later transferred to a nursing home in the Pine Lawn suburbs of St. Louis where she worked and lived for one year. She eventually moved to Browning, IL where she lived for over 35 years. She enjoyed crafts, gardening, raising roses and visiting people at local nursing homes. She is survived by four daughters, Mary L. Ford, Nederland, TX, Diana R. Ashbaker, Browning, IL, Linda C. Curry, Gertrude F. Neff, Springfield, MO; five sisters, Kathleen Steward, Edwardsville, IL, Sandra L. Shiek, Newkirk, Vera H. Daiber, Marine, IL, Rozann Sebor, Newkirk, Ann M. Webster, Norfolk, VA; two brothers, William M. Voegele, Keysport, IL, Robert J. Voegele, Maryville, IL; 14 grand children; and 24 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son Stephen A. Wright; a sister, Josephine E. Voegele; and three brothers, Frances W. Voegele, Raymond C. Voegele, John E. Voegele. Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. ---
