She was 90. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, June 7, at the Blackwell Cemetery with the Rev. Gale Izard of the First United Methodist Church of Blackwell officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Roberts and Son Funeral Home. Dorothy Averce Cook was born on May 14, 1912, in Arriba, Colo., the daughter of William Seward and Clara Irene Dole Winchell. At the age of four months, she moved with her family to Earlville, Ill., where she attended area schools. In 1924, she moved with her family to Tonkawa, where she completed high school, graduating in 1931. She attended Northern Oklahoma Junior College in Tonkawa for two years, receiving an associate degree in business. She married Roland Parker on May 18, 1933, in Blackwell. From 1937 to 1940, she was employed with the city of Blackwell at city hall. She married Albert Eugene Cook on April 19, 1940, in Blackwell. She was employed with Kay Electric in 1946 until retirement in 1977. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Blackwell, the Talk of the Month Club, Civic Music Club and was past president of the Oklahoma State Firemen's Auxiliary. She volunteered with American Red Cross and the Blackwell Regional Hospital. For a short time, she operated the senior citizen's group in the evenings. She is survived by two grandsons, James E. London of Blackwell and William Norton Roland of Tulsa; and a great-granddaughter, Michelle Roland of Ponca City. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on Feb. 8, 1958; a daughter, Mary Lou Roland; two brothers, William and Ned Winchell; and two sisters, Mildred Getty and Avis Spencer.
