He was 50. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Hunsaker-Wooten Funeral Chapel in Fairfax with the Rev. Johnny Redeagle and the Rev. Mary Fish officiating. Burial will be held with full military rites in the Grayhorse Cemetery, southeast of Fairfax. Donald Wayne Carpenter was born Sept. 14, 1945, in Claremore, the son of Norman and Merle Blackbird McKinley Washabaugh. He was a member of the Osage and Otoe Tribes and his Indian name was Tse-Tsi-Tsu Kihekah. As a baby he was adopted by Marvin and Pauline Carpenter. He graduated from Capitol High School in Oklahoma City in 1962, then entered the U.S. Marine Corps. Carpenter served in the Vietnam War in "The Walking Dead" 1st Battalion 9th Marines. He was married to Debra G. Lasley on June 14, 1982 in Colorado Springs, Colo., and the couple made their first home in Pawhuska. The family later moved to Claremore. Carpenter was a member and board member of the Vietnam Vets of America, Tulsa Chapter. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and collecting guns. He was a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Debra, of the home in Claremore; two sons, Christopher Wayne Carpenter Kilpatrick of Oklahoma City and Chancellor Wayne Carpenter of the home; one daughter, Ciaradon Carpenter of the home; two brothers, John Norman Washabaugh of Tahlequah and Sam Notah of Bartlesville; four sisters, Rita Jo Badley of Ralston, Bonnie Green Whitekiller of Tahlequah, and Melissa Standridge and Julia Notah, both of Bartlesville; one grandchild; two uncles, and numerous nieces and nephews.
