Eitzmann, longtime Newkirk area farmer and rancher, died Friday, November 17, 2000 at Shawn Manor Skilled Nursing Unit, Ponca City. He was 82. The son of August and Alida (Krusemark) Eitzmann, he was born Nov.1, 1918 in Newkirk. The family lived in Grainola, moving to a farm northwest of Newkirk when Ervin was nine years old. He attended a rural grade school and graduated from Newkirk High School with the class of 1937. On Dec. 31, 1939 he and Virginia Mae Tracy were married in Wellington, KS. They made their home on a farm northeast of Newkirk. Eitzmann was engaged in farming and ranching, retiring from the operation in May 1989. After retirement he enjoyed fishing and gardening. A member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Newkirk, Mr. Eitzmann had served in various positions in the church over the years. He had also served on the Board of Education for OK School District and was a charter member of Dale Township rural water. Surviving him are his wife, Virginia of the home; one son and his wife, Mark and Sherry Eitzmann of Ponca City; three daughters and their husbands, Karen and Marvin Janda of Kildare, Jean and Bill Austin, and Connie and Clarence Gray, all of Arkansas City; two brothers, Ira and Carol Eitzmann of New Ulm, TX, and Harold and Marcella Eitzmann of Morgans Point, TX; one sister, Glendora Schmidt of Newkirk, nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. The funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21 in St. John's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ernest Quillen, minister of St. John's Lutheran Church and the Rev. Mark Boxman, minister of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Arkansas City officiating. Burial followed in Newkirk Cemetery under the directions of Miller-Stahl Funeral Service. Grandsons serving as casketbearers were Ryan Eitzmann, Chris Janda, Wayne Janda, Cary Austin, Kevin Austin,Tommy Shelton, Terry Willits and Mark Riggs. Honorary bearers were Terry Morton, Duane Vap, Steve Vap, Brett Stephens, Eldon Greenhagen, Wayne Bain, William E. Pitts, Curtis Bolton and Warren Wing.
