Shaw Eldon E. Shaw, 79, of Newkirk, formerly of Arkansas City, died Monday, April 5, 1999 in Ponca City. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, April 9 at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home in Arkansas City. Pastor Lynden Howard will officiate. Interment will follow in Parker Cemetery in Arkansas City. Eldon was born February 14, 1920 to Edward and Hulda Brandt Shaw in Friend, NE. He attended school in Nebraska and later attended a trade school. He entered the U.S. Navy and was a World War II veteran. Eldon married Isabell Gillespie and together they had a daughter, Lois Austin-McGlasson. Eldon later married Beulah Fields McGlasson on April 16, 1954 in Gainesville, Texas. They made their home in Arkansas City until moving to Missouri and then to Newkirk in 1987. Eldon worked for Skyline and was also self employed in construction and operated Shaw Ditching Service. He later worked as a machinist for Plessey Aircraft in Wellington, KS. Eldon was a lifetime member of the Newkirk VFW. He is survived by his wife, Beulah, of the home; daughter Lois and her husband, Carl McGlasson of Ponca City; two step-sons and their wives, Boyd and Marilyn McGlasson of Auburn, KS, and Loyd and Connie McGlasson of Salt Lake City, UT; two brothers, Loren Shaw of Portland, OR, and William Shaw of Amarillo, Texas; two sisters, L. "Winnie" Ochsner and Luella Kennye, both of Lincoln, NE; four grandchildren, two step-grand- children, eight great grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren. He was preceeded in death by his parents, three sisters, Sarah Cox, Norma Allen and Lois Shaw, and a step grandson, Jay McGlasson.
