She was 83. The daughter of Earl and Flossie Penny, Kildare, she was born March 4, 1916 in Yale, Oklahoma. Her father's family came from Europe and had roots in Arkansas before moving to Oklahoma. Her maternal ancestors (Gifford) came to America from England just before the War of 1812 and her earliest American relative was an Admiral in the U.S. Navy in that war. She attended Ponca City High School and worked at the Kress Store in downtown Ponca City prior to her marriage. She later helped her husband in carrying mail between Tulsa and Ponca City. She married Glen M. Williams on June 12, 1938 at the United Methodist Church in Kildare. They met in the grocery store in Kildare shortly after she moved with her family from Arkansas around 1936. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary before Mr. Williams' death June 17, 1998. Survivors include her three children and their spouses, Jerry and Charlotte Williams of Houston, Texas, Sharon and Fred Goldsberry of Houston, Texas, and Max and Jeanie Williams of Denison, Texas; six grandchildren, Gayle Ruckman of Lawrence, Kansas, Gavin Williams of Houston, Texas, Jeanette Goldsberry of Houston, Texas, Dennis Goldsberry of Temple, Texas, Adrienne Williams and Jared Williams, both of Denison; two great- grandchildren, Seth and Reilly Ruckman of Lawrence, Kansas; and three brothers, Lawrence, John, and Bud Penny. In addition to her husband Glen, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Marlin Penny and Claude Penny; and one sister, Juanita Stolhand. The funeral was held at 1:30 pm Sunday, June 20, 1999, in the Miller-Stahl Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Larry Heslip of the First Baptist Church, Ponca City, officiating. Sharon Goldsberry played the organ and Patricia Chapman of Houston sang three of Mrs.Williams' favorite songs. Burial followed in Newkirk Cemetery under the direction of Miller-Stahl Funeral Service.
