Gladys E. Merrell

Gladys E. Merrell, 82, of Guthrie, died June 11, 1999. Funeral services 
were held June 14th Rev. Dale Du Pue of First Presbyterian Church of Edmond 
and Dr. E.B. Comptom of First Presbyterian Church of Guthrie officiating. 

Burial was in Summit View Cemetery in Guthrie.

Gladys was born July 19, 1916 in Newkirk to J. Wendell and Eva (Haynes) Smith. 

She attended Newkirk Grade School and graduated from Newkirk High School in 
1934. 

Gladys was married to Webber Merrell in the home of her mother in Newkirk, 
August 20, 1939. 

She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church and the Beta Sigma 
Phi.

She is survived by two sons, William (Bill) Merrell and his wife Brenda of 
Tonopah, NV, and Robert Merrell and his wife Lori of Boulder City, NV; one 
daughter, Carol Sue Hopcus and her husband Ken, Edmond; one daughter-in-law, 
Judy Merrell, Guthrie; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, on Dec. 6, 1975 and 
her brother Willard H. Smith, April 15, 1999
