All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm =================================================================== Glenn North Longtime Blackwell automobile dealer, Glenn Howard North, died at 11 p.m. Tuesday in Kansas University Medical Center at Kansas City, Ks. He was 68. Mr. North had been a patient in the KU Medical Center for the past three weeks. His residence was 1105 West Coolidge. The funeral service is set for 2 p.m. Friday afternoon in the First Baptist Church. Roberts and Son Funeral Home is in charge. Mr. North was owner of North Motor Company, 701 South Main. He established his first auto dealership at Padon and Main in 1939 and in 1942 moved it to West Lawrence headquartered with Miller Oil Company building. Mr. North was born Dec. 22, 1907, in Newton, Ks. And moved from Kansas to Western Oklahoma with his parents. He attended schools in Alva and moved to Blackwell in 1925. He married Cora F. Miller on September 29, 1927, in the parsonage of the First Baptist Church of Blackwell. That year, he became employed for Miller Oil Company and in 1938 established a bowling alley where Fey's IGA is now located. He obtained his private pilot's license in 1948 and was an avid aviator until failing health forced curtailment of flying. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors are his wife, Cora; one daughter, Mrs. J. Ross (Glenda) Griffing, Shawnee Mission, Ks.; two grandchildren, Glenn Ross Griffing and Jennifer Lynn Griffing and two brothers, Norman H. North, Ponca City, and Harry W. North, Seattle, Wa. Rites at Blackwell for Glenn H. North Funeral service for Glenn Howard North, Blackwell automobile dealer were to be 2 p.m. today in the First Baptist Church there. A brother of Ponca Citian Norman H. North, 2804 Avon, the Blackwell man died Tuesday night in Kansas University Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan. Survivors include his wife, one daughter, two grandchildren, and two brothers. North was the owner of North Motor Company in Blackwell.
