Casket bearers, have been chosen for the funeral of Herschel V. Baker, 87, who died Friday after a brief illness. They are Lee Pierce, Leland Lear, Royce Dewitt, Harold Mullins, Clarence Mullins and Lloyd Burpo. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the First Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. Dean Galloway, pastor, assisted by the Rev. Curtis Shook. Grace Memorial Chapel will be in charge. Burial will be in Longwood Cemetery in the community where Baker made his home in this area. and in which he farmed for a number of years. He was born July 24, 1884, in Blue Springs, MO, but had been a resident of this area since 1901. He married Pearl Dora Klopp Dec. 30, 1906, and they farmed in the Longwood area before moving into Ponca City, where they made their home at 1136 North Peachtree. He had worked on the Marland game refuge for Dr. E. R. Kidder, and for Continental Oil. Survivors included his wife of the home; four sons, Delmar, 2106 Joe; Lee, Salinas, Calif., Albert, 2129 Mary, and Dan of Huachuca, Ariz: four daughters, Mrs. Owen (Ethel) Lear, Kirtland, NM. Mrs. Dwight (Ann) Beckelhimer, 1932 Mary.
