(Horinek) Janda, Marvin was born Dec. 17, 1939 in Ponca City. He grew up in the Kildare area and attended school in Kildare and Ponca City, and he graduated from Ponca City High School with the class of 1958. Following graduation he attended Oklahoma State University where he studied metallurgy and engineering. On May 11, 1963, Marvin and Karen Marie Eitzmann were married in Newkirk. They established their first home in Ponca City, moving the following year to a location east of Kildare where they have since resided. Janda's work included Wilkin's Equipment, Skyline Moble, Vaccumaid, Mertz Machine and Conoco, where he was employed until 1993 when he retired. In addition to his cattle ranching, he enjoyed restoring old tractors. He loved his children and grandchildren and spending time with them. He is survived by his wife, Karen; two sons, Christopher Eugene "Chris" Janda of Newkirk and Marvin Wayne Janda and his wife Cherody of Ponca City; one daughter Lisa Diane Free of Ponca City; two brothers, Daniel S. Janda of Newkirk and Ben Janda of Kildare; one sister, Mary Jo Pearman of Edwardsville, IL; and three grandchildren, Jessica Free, Braeley Janda and Brexten Janda. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services were held Oct. 5 in St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Newkirk with the Rev. Mike Sweetman, chaplain of Hospice of North Central Oklahoma officiating. Burial followed in Newkirk Cemetery under the direction of Miller-Stahl Funeral Service. Those serving as casket bearers were Steven Vap, Scott Harader, Curtis Horinek, Mike Pearman, Mark Lechtenburg and Ryan Eitzmann. Honorary bearers were Eddie Dawson, Bill Dick, Curtis Bolton, Don Austin, Mark Eitzmann, Ralph McClung, Tommy Tew and Everett Lockwood A memorial fund has been established with Hospice of North Central Oklahoma.
