Jerry Gay
Jerry Howard Gay, 63, Ponca City, died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2002, in Oklahoma
City.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Strode Chapel with Tom Short
officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction
of Strode Funeral Home.

Gay was born Sept. 28, 1938, in Bristow to Eual Howard and LaDoris Evelyn
(Picquette) Gay. He graduated from Stillwater High School then went into law
enforcement and served 22 years as a police officer in Ponca City, where he
retired as lieutenant detective.

On April 22, 1988, he married Gail Payne in Austin, Texas. They resided in
Stillwater for 10 years before moving to Ponca City. Gay loved to trap shoot,
quail hunt and have cookouts with family and friends. He was a member of First
Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge and FOP and was a 32nd Degree Mason.

He was predeceased by his father and one son, Jeffrey Howard Gay.

Survivors include his wife; his mother; one son and daughter-in-law, Tim and
Linda Gay of Oklahoma City; one daughter and son-in-law, Shelly and Anthony
Williams of Ponca City; one stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Bobby and Nicole
Payne of Ponca City; one stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Angela and James
Barnes of Ponca City; eight grandchildren, Christopher Gay, Brandi Gay, Ashley
Payne, Tyler Barnes, Matthew Williams, Zachary Barnes, Kyce Payne and Logan
Barnes; one brother and sister-in-law, Thomas Michael and Marilyn Gay of
Stillwater; and one sister and brother-in-law, Linnie Suezette and Charles
Branton of Austin, Texas.
