She was 83. The daughter of William Henry and Lola Edna Smith Scharmacher, she was born Jan. 7, 1918 in Muskogee, OK. In 1930 the family moved from Muskogee to the Kildare and Ponca City areas. On Feb. 25, 1938 she and Harold Anthony "Boots" Gosting were married at Winfield. They established their first home on the Wentz Ranch. Over their 53 years of married life, they lived in various areas of the country where Mr. Gosting's work took them. They eventually moved to Tucson, and after retirement they continued to make their last home there. She was an active member of St. Marks Methodist Church. Mr. Gosting died Nov. 10, 1990. She is survived by two sons and their wives, Jack and Jan Gosting of Ponca City and Carl and Diane Gosting of Fountain Hills, AZ; one daughter and her husband, Gayle and William Mills of Tucson; a brother and his wife, George H. and Norma Scharmacher of Sacramento, CA; two sisters, Billie Hutcherson and her husband Les of Ponca City and Thelma Jo Glidden of Gas, KS; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Otis Eugene Scharmacher, and a sister, Elsie Osborne. A graveside service was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16 in Newkirk Cemetery with the Rev. Hance Dilbeck, minister of the Ponca City First Baptist Church officiating.
