All rights reserved http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ***************************************************** Mary Louise Leven Mary Louise Leven, longtime Newkirk area resident, died Sunday morning, Jan. 5, 1992, at her home southeast of Newkirk. She was 90. Born May 28, 1901, at Brookfield, Kan., she was the daughter of John and Anna (Kegller) Sheik. In 1910 she moved with her family to a farm northwest of Newkirk and attended Mountain View rural school. On Sept. 1, 1921, she married Anton "Tony" Leven at Newkirk and they made their home on a farm southeast of Newkirk where they have since resided. Mrs. Leven was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church and the parish Alter Society. Her hobbies were growing flowers and homemaking. Survivors include her husband, Tony, of the home; two sons, Father Marvin F. Leven of Okarche and Andy Leven of Walnut Creek, Calif.; two sisters, Helen Leven and Rosemary Shinn, both of Newkirk; 14 grandchildren and great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Leven was preceded in death by two sons; Harold Stephen Leven and Otto John Leven; one daughter, Mary Louise Jackson Muetzel; five brothers, John, Raymond, Vince, Carl and Pete Sheik; and two sisters, Anna and Teressa. A wake service will be held at 7 p.m., today, in the Miller-Stahl Funeral chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Newkirk, with the Father Marvin Leven, Father Lowell Stieferman, and Arch Bishop, Charles A. Salatka officiating. Burial will follow in Newkirk Cemetery under the direction of Miller-Stahl Funeral Service. Casket bearers will be granddaughters, Rosaleah Hodgson, Nancy Jackson, Pam Jackson, Beth Leven, Carrie Leven, Marti Leven, Melody Leven, Ada Pfeiffer, Charlotte Pichert, Tony Reynolds and Denise Simon. A memorial fund has been established in Mrs. Leven's memory with Hospice of Ponca City and contributions may be made through the Eastman National Bank, Newkirk, OK 74647. Jan 06,1992 Ponca City News
