He was 65. The funeral for Louis Chouteau will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Arkansas City. The rosary will be said Monday, Nov. 11, at 7 p.m. with the Rev. John Brungardt presiding. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. John B. Brungardt, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Ponca City. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel. Louis Paul Chouteau Jr., was born July 15, 1937, in Ponca City, the son of the late Louis Paul Chouteau Sr. and Mary Ruth Chouteau. He was reared in Ponca City, graduating from St. Mary's Catholic School. He then attended Southwestern University in Weatherford, earning his degree as a pharmacist. On June 13, 1959, he married June Marcele Ryan in Ponca City. They made their home in Ponca City and he worked as a pharmacist prior to moving to Arkansas City in 1992. Louis was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Arkansas City. He was also a very active member of the Knights of Columbus-Council 2614 and, in 1998, was named Knight of the Year. He was a 4th Degree Knight and enjoyed running the Tootsie Roll Drive for mentally handicapped children. His hobbies include spending time with his six grandchildren and fishing. "I wish everyone could have a husband, father and brother that was such a source of strength and showed such great love for his family." He is survived by his daughter, Mary Denise Edens and her husband Jesse of Ponca City; two sons, Michael Louis Chouteau and his wife Robin of Sherman, Texas, and Paul Ashley Chouteau and his wife Luann of Arkansas City; four sisters, Barbara Schoelen of Tulsa, Mary Lou Adams of Houston, Texas, Diana Cates of Stillwater, and Ida Tribble of Washington state; two brothers, Robert Chouteau of Dallas, Texas, and Joseph Chouteau of Grove; and six grandchildren, Shay Chouteau, Acacia Chouteau, Braden Chouteau, Brittany Chouteau, Jesse Thomas Edens Jr., and Madison Hope Edens. He was preceded in death by his wife, June Marcele Chouteau, on Dec. 22, 2000. Additionally, his parents and an infant son, Joseph Paul Chouteau, preceded him in death. Casket bearers will be Sam Feist, Joe Clark, Gene Brinkman, Gerald Lobmeyer, Richard Ramirez and Dan Givens. The Knights of Columbus Color Guard will be Bishop Mark K. Carrell, Delano Unruh, Gene Metzinger, Raymond Schmidt, Arky Reyez, Richard Schneider, Bill Houchin, Barry Leavitt and Don Ranzau.
